Wild Koala Day 2023 - Maleny Wood Expo

QKC recognised Wild Koala Day for 2023 by holding an information booth at the Maleny Wood Expo from 28 April through 30 April. The event was well attended with over 9,000 people visiting over the four day festival. The organiser wrote: “The food and entertainment was amazing, the Sunshine Coast Wootha Prize exhibit was inspiring, people loved the workshops and talks, the Nature Hub was a hit for learning and networking, people absolutely loved what was on offer for the kids, and people lining up at the gates said it was the most diverse the Wood Expo has ever been.”

Anika Lehmann, one of our founders and David Mackenzie, Treasurer, each spoke at the Speaker’s Tent to educate the public on koalas, and both speaking events were also well attended.

Our wonderful members were incredibly supportive as well, as we had lots of great help for all three days we were there. Huge thanks to:

Rex and Meghan Halverson, Evaline Rawlinson, Kurt Jones, Bernard Jean, Ange Fairweather, Stefanie Fishel, Therase Burke for their support in helping attend the stall.

Despite the challenging weather conditions, we were able to meet and greet lots of interested people who would love to see more koalas in the Region. It was a wonderful event!
