🐨 Allambi Koala Conservation Report – March 2025

Partnering for a Future Where Koalas Thrive

At Queensland Koala Crusaders, we believe that collaboration is at the heart of conservation—and the Allambi Koala Conservation Project is a shining example of what’s possible when passionate landowners, community volunteers, scientists, and conservation organisations come together for a common purpose.

We’re proud to present the Allambi Koala Conservation Report (March 2025), prepared by our dedicated team member, David Mackenzie, detailing the outcomes of a unique partnership between QKC and the Wiseman family, custodians of Allambi Retreat in Samford Valley.

With the support of the HDR Foundation and in collaboration with Griffith University, University of the Sunshine Coast Detection Dogs for Conservation, and other committed partners, this project has combined cutting-edge research—like thermal drone surveys and detection dog scat analysis—with hands-on community engagement, tree planting, and habitat restoration.

Key highlights of the report include:

  • 🌳 Habitat restoration and over 300 trees planted with the help of volunteers
  • 🐾 Thermal drone and koala scat detection surveys providing valuable insights into local populations
  • 📸 Strategic use of remote trail cameras and visual observations to monitor movement and threats
  • 🤝 Community workshops fostering education and action

This report is more than just data—it’s a story of hope, partnership, and positive action for Queensland’s iconic but vulnerable wild koalas. We invite you to explore the full report and learn how we’re turning conservation goals into measurable impact.
