Guest Speaker, Darryl Jones
Our Event will be held at our next General Meeting at the University of the Sunshine Coast (USC) on Saturday 1stJune from 2pm - 4pm Lecture Theatre ( LT 8) Bldg K
Professor Darryl Jones is an urban ecologist at Griffith University. He has been
investigating the many ways that human and wildlife interact, both positively and negatively in their shared environment. He is especially interested in understanding why certain species thrive in the suburbs while most don't. Most recently, his research has focussed on the new field of road ecology, which aims to design and assess methods that can reduce wildlife roadkill but allow safe movements through the landscape. He has been leading the studies of the Compton Road Fauna Array since 2004, now the most intensively studied series of wildlife crossing structures in the world.
