Planting, Wild Koala Day and More!
As we await our anticipated Community Planting Day, we show our collaborative spirit by helping others. Over the past few months, we have assisted other groups in planting trees for koalas and the other species under their umbrella. At Girraween Sports Grounds and in Sunshine Beach, we have joined forces and volunteered our time with other local Bushcare Groups. In sharing our time and efforts we have an opportunity to engage in the collaborative efforts within our local community whilst “doing” and it gives us a sense of purpose and engagement in a time when animal conservation efforts are often disheartening.
May the trees thrive and grow to support our local wildlife in the Noosa Shire.
As Trauma Season ends…
As there doesn’t seem an end to our “trauma” season, at least we have some positive outcomes including the story of this beautiful girl, Willa.
Willa was reported to us in February and we had seen her prior to this with suspicious possibility of conjunctivitis and eye injury. She was rescued by tree trapping which is humane and safe with easy transport to local experts for care.
Trauma Season and More
As I write this, we are still in the heart of koala trauma season in Queensland - and our newly formed Noosa Region Koala Rescue Team has been busy working in collaboration with Wildcare, RSPCA, Australia Zoo Wildlife Hospital and local communities to help our local koalas.

2017 was a very busy year for us at QKC and we raised awareness and much needed funds for koala food tree plantings for the coming year. We will announce our community planting days and workshops in 2018 along with a very big announcement that will help to give us Worldwide Recognition in our collaborative Koala Conservation efforts. We hope to become a model that will help others help koalas throughout Queensland and the habitats they reside in!

It is coming to the end of 2017 and Queensland Koala Crusaders Inc. have had a very busy year! Our perseverance has paid off and we have quite a few interesting and exciting projects for 2018. Our membership count is currently at 68 people and we would like to grow this base and encourage active memberships to be increased to 100 in the coming year. If you know someone that would like to get involved, perhaps consider a “gift” membership or encourage them to join us and get active in helping koalas! We will be having volunteer planting days, koala walks and activities for all ages in 2018.
