Merry Koala Christmas from All of us at Queensland Koala Crusaders Inc!
2017 was a very busy year for us at QKC and we raised awareness and much needed funds for koala food tree plantings for the coming year. We will announce our community planting days and workshops in 2018 along with a very big announcement that will help to give us Worldwide Recognition in our collaborative Koala Conservation efforts. We hope to become a model that will help others help koalas throughout Queensland and the habitats they reside in!
Our Koala Kids Day Art Competition was a great success and children from around the region as well as the world, competed for prizes and created lovely art whilst raising awareness for koalas! The NoosaAlive team supported our Koala Kids Day and we are very grateful. If you would like to help us publish the kids artwork, you can help us raise awareness today by becoming a member.
Our doodlejam was a great success and as our QKC team celebrated the year poolside yesterday, we were able to view the results, thanks to our wonderful Bernard Jean who brought his prized painting along to show his gratitude!
Our koala food tree plantation is growing rapidly in the rich soils at the Big Pineapple fields at WildlifeHQ As we continue to plant more trees for koalas, the future looks brighter and we see hope for our koalas in the wild as well as those in care. We will continue to be diligent in our pressure to hold government accountable and work in collaboration with other towards improved koala conservation in our state.
Our doodlejam crowdfunding campaign to raise funds for trees was a fun and exciting way to raise money for koala food tree planting. Bob Irwin generously provided his “doodle” to get the painting started and Detection Dogs for Conservation dogs, Maya, Baxter, Bear and Charlie all added their signatures as well. Wildlife HQ koalas Keda and Amari also had their go at painting and the collaborative community effort raised 36% of our goal. We learned more about crowdfunding as a fundraising option and are very grateful to our local community and businesses for their generous pledge donations.
Koala Kids Day was an incredible success! The Noosa Alive Associated Event was supported by our Community and Local Businesses. Our amazing sponsor and QKC member, Helena Wylie gave a generous donation, which allowed us to provide the 1st 100 kids with lovely plush koalas to take home. July is an Exciting month for QKC! Join us on our walks or come to the "Koala Kids Picnic"
A Walk in Noosa National Park provided a great opportunity to "talk koalas" and get a view of one of our wild koalas in town on #wild koala day!
Visitors and locals joined us to discuss the plight of the koala and have a search and we were pleasantly surprised to see "Hilaire" high in the canopy along the emergency track in the park.Read more

On 6th June 2016 I was the recipient of the Inaugural Queensland Day Award for QKC Inc.
2015 began slowly for us at QKC. Personal events of 2014 led me to introspection and re-evaluation of what really matters in this life. Where we sit with Koala Conservation has concerned me. I have questioned why the good efforts of so many people have not halted the ever-increasing decline of an iconic species. All across this gorgeous country, there are a growing number of groups that are willing to work together and put differences aside to support a “different” way, by truly speaking up for the koalas and their trees. I am grateful for this because TOGETHER we can make a difference!Read more
